PEABERRY FAQ
Tanzanian peaberry is grown throughout the country however, the majority is grown on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Most coffee in the region is grown on small mountainside farms, or fincas, although a few large plantations do exist. Tanzanian peaberry is grown at an elevation of between 4500 and 6000 feet.
regionThe landscape of the Mbeya Region in Tanzania is dynamic, with rolling mountain peaks and valleys galore. This is typical of coffee-producing countries, but not every origin is lucky enough to have their own namesake volcanic mountain range, let alone several other volcanoes nearby. Coffee plants thrive in these conditions. The loftier soil is great for prime water retention—it prevents flooding, keeping enough water to also stave off drought. It’s also jam-packed with nutrients.
