The coffee trade is a multifaceted one and at N.J. Douek we know and use the tools necessary to help manage your risk and ensure proper delivery of coffee no matter what the circumstances. There are many hedging and pricing tools at your disposal, and we would be happy to discuss these with you. Our know-how and strength enable us to properly mediate between the producer’s capacities and the roaster’s needs.
Cupping and overall quality control
We have been testing and cupping coffees daily since 1951 and we enjoy sharing our expertise with our customers. Please feel free to ask us for our cupping notes and comments on any coffees.
Logistics
At N. J. Douek, among other things, we look after freight, customs and inland transportation. Our staff is constantly looking after the flow of merchandise to ensure proper and timely delivery to the facility of your choice.
Sustainability and traceability
Now, more than ever, it is crucial for the industry to be conscious of the sustainability of our product if we are all to succeed in our work. The well being of the people who process the coffee as well as the environment they work in is paramount to the ongoing production of a quality coffee. At N. J. Douek, we have partnered with many NGO’s and associations who have a direct impact on the conditions at the producer level. We also pre-finance many quality producers who would otherwise have difficulty marketing their coffee.
Direct trade/relationship coffees
At N.J. Douek, we understand the importance of establishing bonds between roaster and producer. To that end, we encourage the business of so-called 'direct trade' or 'relationship coffees'. We will facilitate the logistics, finance, and QC (Quality Control) when roasters have elected to work with a specific producer. The chain is only made stronger and more viable in the long term if all parties know each other and work together.
