The Estates – 2000 Acres – are situated at an altitude ranging from 950 to 1650 meters above the sea level, the altitude providing a salubrious climate, very ideal for quality Coffee. Nature, in its abundance, has endowed the place with rich soil, ideal shaded trees, especially the varieties of Silver Oak, Jack, Cedar, etc. that protect the Coffee grown under filtered shade. All in all, it’s a pure, pollution-free ideal place on earth, inhabited by different species of birds and frequented by wild animals like bison’s, elephants, panthers, etc.
Located in the picturesque Western Ghats of India, in the State of Karnataka, these Estates have inherited the best of plantation practices from the 19th century pioneer British Planters and have over the last 50 years under the able stewardship of K.S. Vaidyanathan adopted the traditional and progressive practices to make every cup something special. Nature has endowed the Estates with rich soil, ideal shade trees that provide filtered shade to all the coffee plants and a variety of flora and fauna.
The Estates grow both Arabica and Robusta varieties. The average annual yield is around 750 MT – comprising of 600 MT Arabica and 150 MT Robusta – 85% of which is washed Coffee.
Organic manure which includes among other materials, coffee fruit pulp, husk, cattle manure and mulch is supplemented to the soil enrichment program.
Pepper, Areca and Oranges are the other crops raised in these Estates.
