Nestled in the scenic Western Ghats of Karnataka, India, the Estates span an impressive 2,000 acres at altitudes between 950 and 1,650 meters above sea level. This elevation blesses the area with a mild climate, perfect for producing high-quality coffee. The Estates are a haven of natural beauty, featuring rich soils and a canopy of trees like Silver Oak, Jack, and Cedar, which provide the ideal filtered shade for coffee plants. This pristine, pollution-free environment is not only a paradise for various bird species but also a haven for wildlife such as bison, elephants, and panthers.
These Estates, steeped in history, have evolved from the pioneering practices of 19th-century British Planters. Under the skilled guidance of K.S. Vaidyanathan for the past 50 years, they have seamlessly blended traditional methods with modern techniques, ensuring every cup of coffee is truly special. The Estates proudly cultivate both Arabica and Robusta coffee, yielding an average of 750 metric tons annually, with 85% being washed coffee. Sustainability is key here; organic manure, including coffee pulp, husk, cattle manure, and mulch, plays a vital role in soil enrichment. Beyond coffee, the Estates diversify with crops like pepper, areca, and oranges, adding to the rich tapestry of this extraordinary landscape. |
