ICE Coffee Futures Decline Modestly by FC Stone

Arabica coffee prices ended lower Wednesday at the end of a quiet trading session. With most
of the traders focused on the Federal Reserve decision tomorrow, the coffee market was not
the exception, remaining inside a small range during the day. The active contract for December
delivery settled 60 points lower at 118.10 cents a pound. The increment of the green coffee
inventories reported yesterday  by the GCA added weight on the prices. The August  increment
of 239,814 bags , the fifth consecutive,  made the inventories  at the highest level of the last 12
years.
 
Emerging  market  currencies  recuperated  throughout  the  day,  with  the  real  trading  at
BRL3.83059  and  the  peso  at  COP2987.5  at  1:30  pm  EST.  The  S&P  and  the  Dow  Jones  both
traded higher today, awaiting the decision of the Federal Reserve tomorrow.
