Sidamo coffee, renowned for its complexity, is produced in Southern Ethiopia, particularly in the Sidamo region, known for its diverse landrace varieties. This area, with altitudes ranging from 1,550 to 2,200 meters, fertile soil, and ample rainfall, is one of Ethiopia’s three trademarked coffee regions, alongside Harrar and Yirgacheffe. Coffee is grown by smallholders using traditional farming methods, often intercropping with other crops. Sidamo coffees are graded based on quality, with Grade 1 and 2 recognized as specialty coffee, while grades 3-9 are classified as commercial coffee. Each coffee is marked with its grade, geographical designation, and whether it is washed or unwashed.
