Located in northwestern Colombia, Antioquia is one of the country’s oldest coffee-producing regions. Traditionally known for commercial-grade production, in recent years Antioquia has invested heavily in quality-focused programs, leading to a surge in specialty coffee microlots. Coffee is grown at elevations between 1,300 and 2,200 meters, with diverse microclimates and soils that support complex cup profiles.
Most farms are smallholder-run, with careful hand-picking and washed processing as standard. Many producers now experiment with natural and honey processes, improving quality and traceability. Regional cooperatives and training programs have boosted access to better post-harvest practices. Antioquia coffees are typically balanced and approachable, with a creamy body, medium-bright acidity, and sweet, nutty or chocolatey notes. You may also find hints of red apple, orange, panela, and in higher-grown lots, floral or tropical fruit nuances. COOP- FNC
