ICE COffee Futures End with Little Change by FC Stone

Arabica  coffee  futures  for  December  delivery  ended  25  points  higher
Monday  at  124.30  cents  a  pound.  With  the  London  market  closed  on
holiday, the action in New York was limited to short-term specs playing both
sides of the market.  After the firm   opening, prices were pressured by the
real that traded down 975 points to BRL 3.6824 against the dollar.  Concerns
of a credit-rating cut continue to grow and put pressure on the currency that
fell to a 12 1/2 – year low.  Most of analysts were surprised by the GDP‘s
contraction of 1.9 percent released Friday.  In coffee related news,   from
Brazil,  Coop  Cooparaiso  has  harvested  90  percent  of  the  crop,  compared
with  80  percent  last  year  same  time.    They  are  expecting  to  produce  2.5
million  bags,  up  from  2.1  million  bags  produced  in  the  previous  year.    In
climate news, dry weather with only few showers were reported during the
weekend. Similar conditions are expected for the next 3 to 5 days.
