ICE Coffee Futures Close with Little Change by FC Stone

The  weakness  of  emerging  market  currencies  and  a  general  bearish  sentiment  of  the
commodity  and  equity  markets  continued  to  put  pressure  on  the  coffee  prices  Friday.  The
December position closed 20 points lower at 118.35 cents a pound. Volume was estimated at
19,587  lots,  including  4,113  switches.  The  active  December  switch  has  been  trading  steady
around  -3.50 cents, with most of the buying interest near the -4.00 cents. Coffee prices were
supported at the beginning of the session by reports of possible crop damage in some areas of
Colombia due to a continue dry weather. According with the FNC (Colombian National Coffee
Federation)  statement  published  today,  close  to  18%  of  the  expected  harvest  during  the
second half of 2015, will be affected to some degree by the lack of rain. During the present
week,  Arabica  prices  advanced  $0.018  or  1.5  per  cent.  The  price  action  was  slow  and
concentrated inside a small range. Lack of coffee related news and a disappointed Wall Street
reaction to the FED decision kept a lackluster market action.
