"C" Coffee Futures Settle Lower by FC Stone

Arabica  Coffee  futures  settled  lower  on  Tuesday  after  a  day  with  low  volume.  The  most  active  contract  for March delivery settled 85 points lower at 125.20 cents per pound. Volume reached 19,898 lots, including 3,181 switches. Liquidation of 1000 lots on the opening caused a sharp fall in trading, which triggered sell stop orders, suspending the trading session for 30 seconds. After lack of follow-through, prices recuperated substantially with a settlement of little change. In related news, the real weakened, trading at BRL 3.7957 at 3:30 pm EST. Colombia  was  closed  today  on  a  holiday.  Neumann  forecasted  a  deficit  of  4.9  million  bags  for  2015/16, compared to the 5.5 million bag deficit of last year. According to public figures published by the National Coffee Association, the fastest growing sector in consumption during November was single serve, while the remainder of the sectors experienced a reduction.
