Arabica coffee futures fell Tuesday on speculative selling. The active contract for December delivery lost 350
points to close at 120.80 cents a pound. The activity remained moderate with volume reaching 24,051 lots,
including 4,871 switches. In related news, Brazil coffee exports during August were reported at 2,669,900 bags, the higher figure of the last four months, and 0.7 percent lower than August last year 2,689,700 bags, Trade Ministry. Another negative day for the real added pressure on the coffee prices. The currency depreciated 1.8 percent to BRL 3.6934 per dollar at 3:30 pm EST. The peso in Colombia also devaluated, trading at COP3,114 at 3:00 pm EST. Equity and commodity markets sharp declines continued to influence the general sentiment.
