Arabica coffee futures continued to fall as rains in Brazil developed during the weekend alleviating
recent concerns of possible damage to the coffee trees. The contract with most of the activity for
December delivery settled 115 points lower at 117.30 cents a pound. Volume remained moderate at
25,555 lots, including 5,585 switches. The nearby switch widened 5 points to end at -3.40
cents. Rains up to 0.60 inches were reported in the main growing areas, and are expected to remain
periodic during the next five days. Brazilian real devaluated 0.7 percent, trading at BRL3.9070 at 4:00
pm EST. Other markets were mixed.
